After-School Horsemanship Program
Atkinson Riding Academy is excited to offer an after-school horsemanship program for students in the Timberlane Regional School District, serving students from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our program combines hands-on horsemanship, educational activities, and after-school support in a fun, safe, and welcoming barn environment.
Program Details
- Monday–Friday
- 2:30–5:30PM
- $30 per day
- Students may select the days they're interested in attending
- A final weekly schedule will be confirmed upon completion of registration
What Students Will Experience
- Learning how to safely care for and interact with horses
- Feeding and learning how to properly provide hay and grain
- Grooming and basic horse care
- Hands-on barn and horsemanship activities
- Activities that encourage fine and gross motor skill development
- Learning responsibility, confidence, and teamwork
- Dedicated homework time with help and support available
- Snacks provided during the program

Our goal is to provide students with a positive after-school experience where they can learn, build confidence, develop important life skills, and enjoy time with horses.
Drop-In Days
Drop-in attendance is also welcome with at least 24 hours' notice.
Drop-In Rate: $40 per day.
Please indicate your preferred days during registration, and we will work with you to finalize your child's schedule.
Homeschool Horsemanship Program

Atkinson Riding Academy is excited to offer a hands-on Homeschool Horsemanship Program designed to give students the opportunity to learn about horses, horse care, and safe handling in a fun, educational environment. Our small-group sessions provide students with plenty of hands-on experience while learning about the everyday care and management of horses.
All-Day Farm Experience
9:00 AM–1:00 PM | $50 per student

Grooming & Equine Anatomy
1 Hour | $45 per student | 4 student max
- Safe grooming techniques
- How to properly approach and handle a horse
- Basic horse anatomy
- Identifying major body parts
- Why grooming is an important part of horse care
Hands-on, designed for beginner to intermediate students.
Basic Groundwork
1 Hour | $60 per student | 4 student max
- Safe leading
- Stopping
- Backing
- Proper positioning and handling
- Basic communication with the horse
- Building confidence and respect from the ground
Prerequisite: Students must complete the Grooming & Equine Anatomy session before participating in Basic Groundwork.

Want to keep learning after your first session? Students who continue into a first block of lessons receive 10% off their first block. Our goal is to help students build confidence, develop safe horsemanship skills, and create a strong foundation for continued learning with horses.
